Fundamental Hair products use a combination of natural ingredients each with properties that nourish your hair from roots to end. Each bottle is handmade by Sorin, who, through years of trial and development on his own hair, has perfected a nourishing formula. Our base ingredients include (see full ingredients list here):

• Safflower helps to prevent loss of proteins, which makes it ideal for moisturising hair and hair growth. As a rich source of vitamin E, safflower also helps to keep the scalp fully hydrated, and thanks to its oleic acid content it can penetrate deep into the scalp prompting increased blood flow.
  
  
• Rosemary Oil stimulates hair growth, rosemary essential oil is used to prevent premature graying and dandruff. It may also help a dry or itchy scalp.
  
  
• Argan oil moisturises your hair and scalp, and protects your hair from everyday damage. By reducing breakage, split ends and keeping your scalp healthy, argan oil may help prevent hair loss for thicker, fuller hair.
  
  
• Avocado oil can help stimulate blood flow to the scalp and unclog blocked follicles. This can help create a healthy scalp environment for hair to grow. These effects may also help fight hair loss.

Struggling with mental health is familiar to both of us. After years of trying to manage our health with limited resources, we finally experienced making true strides with the adequate support. We know that mental health challenges are more prominent than ever, and yet resources are still inaccessible to many. So we have made it our mission to be part of a solution—that’s why 5% or £500.00 (whichever amount is the highest) of our profits will go towards supporting mental health causes that help accessibility.

Some of you may know me as @SciSavage, a friend, partner, colleague, or even Professional Best Friend. I am also Sorin Schiller, a male who, in adult years, was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Having lived undiagnosed for most of my life, and without the support and advice that is often learned from parental figures, I spent my teen and young adult years questioning my worth, my place in the world, my ability to connect, and my life. This far-from-normal upbringing led me to many vulnerable situations—from homelessness, crime, substance abuse and attempts at taking my own life.

The day I decided to make a change and take back control was the day I decided to grow my hair, and discover the person who my inner child would be proud of.

My story is about overcoming—relearning the fundamentals of life, our purpose, and community. This is what I want to share with you through Fundamental. 

Having spent many years excelling through the education system and working ranks, at the expense of my inner child and true passions, my value became inextricably tied to deliverables and outcomes. I prided myself on the ability to work through sickness and the belief that I did not require authentic relationships.

During 2020, I suffered complete burnout, which led to my biggest mental breakdown—one that I wasn’t sure I could survive.

As challenging at this was, this was the beginning of my breakthrough. I had to challenge my understanding of where value comes from, to allow space for the birth of a healthier, more loving and authentic way of being.

Through the Fundamental ethos, our products and personal practices, such as movement medicine, I have found purpose enabling others to take custody of their inner child, to move like nobody’s watching, create like there’s no right or wrong, and find freedom in imperfection.
